As we enter the summer season, and students are out of school, I want to provide you with some useful information about the summer meal programs offered throughout the 25th District, Prince George’s County, and the State of Maryland.
As you may know, many students rely on the meals they receive at school as a source of nutrition for the majority of the year. While school is out for the summer, these students are at risk of losing that consistent access to nutritional meals. Fortunately the Maryland State Department of Education has a website for you to search for the nearest summer food service program. Please click here to find a meal site in your neighborhood.
If you have an emergency and need food please call Maryland Capitol Area Food Bank at 202-644-9807 for a referral to a pantry location near you.
There are also two numbers for you to call if further assistance is needed:
Prince George’s County Department of Social Services: 301-909-6343
Prince George’s County Public Schools: 301-952-6580
As always, I hope that this information is beneficial for you and/or someone you may know. If I can be of any other assistance, please do not hesitate to contact my office at: Ulysses.Currie@senate.state.md.us or (301)-858-3127.
